Café Coca-Cola is the oldest cafe has opened its doors in 1875, making it the oldest cafe in the city. It is THE singular cafe on our planet to be named ‘Coca-Cola’.
The original name was “Nueve Puertas”, which means “Nine Doors” in Spanish. There are 3 doors on all 3 sides of the wall that go out to the street.
The owners of the restaurant really liked the name “Coca-Cola” and they took it. But why didn’t they have problems? At that time, copyright simply did not exist. Even today, even though the copyright exists, they use this name without any problems, because the “Coca-Cola” company accepted and authorized the use of a logo. This is the only restaurant in the world that can use the Coca-Cola name.
In 1906 Panama along with Cuba, became one of the first countries to operate Coca-Cola bottling plants outside of North America, just in time to quench the thirst of the ‘thousands of laborers employed to build the Panama Canal.’
