Tapí Tapioca

Tapí Tapioca

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Tapi Tapioca, the popular Brazilian food truck, has been serving up mouth-watering tapioca dishes on the streets of Rio de Janeiro since 2014. Marianna Ferolla, the mastermind behind the truck, has been taking the traditional Brazilian dish to new heights with her innovative recipes and creative combinations.

Marianna’s commitment to using only the freshest, locally-sourced ingredients has earned the truck a reputation for quality and sustainability. Tapioca is a traditional Brazilian food made from cassava starch, which is gluten-free and has a unique texture and flavor.

The Tapi Tapioca food truck offers a variety of savory and sweet tapioca crepes that are perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Some of their popular dishes include the classic cheese and ham tapioca crepe, the chicken and cream cheese tapioca crepe, and the vegetarian option with spinach and mozzarella cheese.

Recently, Marianna and her team have been experimenting with new flavors and ingredients to keep their menu fresh and exciting. They’ve added savory options like chicken and cheese to their lineup of sweet treats, and even created a vegan tapioca filled with mushrooms and avocado.

Tapi Tapioca also offers a variety of sweet tapioca crepes that are perfect for dessert or a sweet snack. Some of their sweet crepe options include the Nutella and banana crepe, the coconut and condensed milk crepe, and the strawberry and chocolate crepe.

One of the things that makes Tapi Tapioca unique is their commitment to using high-quality, fresh ingredients in their dishes. They source their cassava starch from Brazil and use local and organic ingredients whenever possible. Additionally, all of their crepes are made to order, ensuring that each customer receives a fresh and delicious meal.

But the pandemic has posed a major challenge for Tapi Tapioca, like many other businesses around the world. With restrictions on public gatherings and a decrease in tourism, the food truck has had to pivot its business model to stay afloat. Marianna has started offering delivery and takeout options, and has even created a new online store where customers can order Tapi Tapioca merchandise.

Despite the challenges, Marianna remains optimistic about the future of Tapi Tapioca. “We’ve been through tough times before, and we’ve always come out stronger,” she says. “I believe that if we stay true to our values and keep innovating, we’ll continue to grow and thrive.”

In 2016, the Tapí team opened their first store and since then have opened several other venues. ‘Eventually we’d like to expand Tapí internationally’, smiles Marianna, ‘But one step at a time.’

Overall, Tapi Tapioca is a great option for anyone looking to try authentic Brazilian cuisine or for those who are gluten-free and looking for new and delicious meal options. Their food truck can be found at various locations and events, so be sure to check their website or social media pages to find out where they will be next.
